27th Annual Reach Out To Youth

"Electrify Your Mind"

Reach Out to Youth (ROTY) is an annual event held here at the WSU SOM that targets Detroit Public School students underrepresented in the fields of science and medicine, specifically those of African-American, Latin American, and Native American decent. Students ages 7-11 are invited to the School of Medicine for a daylong workshop program taught by medical students and faculty. ROTY strives to raise awareness about the medical profession and motivate student interest in the sciences. Volunteers will have an opportunity to communicate medical career options to students and teach mini workshops on the subjects of Anatomy, Physiology and Clinical Medicine. Co-Curricular credit is provided for Parent Escorts, Tour Guides, Teachers, and the Orientation Session.
